Job Title:  STEAM Art  and Media Specialist

Reports to:21st  CCLC Program Director 

Department: Federal Programs

Schedule: Three (3) hours per week, part-time

Salary Range: $ 100 per hour

Term:One year with the option for renewal, contingent on funding

 

Role Mission:

The 21st Century specialists will facilitate after school programming for priority students, focusing on academic support, enrichment opportunities, and college/career readiness. Specialists will work with campus principals and the 21st Century Site Coordinator to ensure 21st Century programs enhance the vision and priorities of the school. 21st Century specialists work after school for 2 – 2.5 hours three days per week. This course will inspire children by combining academics and art as a tool to empower their own conceptual ideas and growth.

 

Full Job Description Responsibilities:

Teacher will perform a full range of duties, including but not limited to:

  • Assist children in groups or one on one, depending on the needs of children and on the subject matter
  • Help plan and carry out different arts & crafts to get children engaged
  • Document and keep records of the children’s progress, routines, and interests, and inform parents about their child’s development
  • Follow Covid-19 Precautions; sanitizing, disinfecting, and cleaning procedures
  • Attend Monthly team meeting; to share ideas and empower growth
  • Abide by all Hollandale School District campus rules and procedures

Qualifications & Skills:

  • One year relevant teaching experience
  • Excellent communication and instructional skills
  • Team oriented, cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
  • Creative and artistic can come up with fun art crafts
  • Ability to act as mediator between children
  • Highly adaptable personality who can be flexible to the changing needs of children
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
  • Virtual teaching experience a plus

Duties include:

Media education and instruction in digital storytelling, video production and editing, and documentary production for all of the Excel Up youth development programs.

Develop programming and digital projects to engage youth living in poverty through their interests in the arts and introduce them to the many avenues for careers in the Arts. Especially 21st century careers in media, and STEAM fields, including skills in digital media and digital storytelling as a career pathway.

Work with youth engaged with the Excel-Up after school program year-round in afterschool, out of school, and summer learning opportunities to develop skills in interviewing, media and social media production, and literacy.

Promote greater understanding by youth of the important intersections between the Arts and other aspects of their lives including success in school, home and community.

Work with Excel-Up Project Coordinator  to develop, promote, and market Excel-Up programs and activities digitally, maintaining and updating the organization's presence on social media platforms.
